First Look: Acid Factory

The trailer of Sanjay Gupta’s Acid Factory is out. Take a look.

What you notice is the presence of guns. Each character loves guns. Dia Mirza plays the femme fatale.

The film has been directed by first timer Suparn Verma and is loosely based on the Ocean’s 11 series. It promises top notch stunts and thrills and is touted to be technically spectacular.

The film has been shot extensively in South Africa. Dia Mirza worked out a little extra to get a lean look and Dino Morea has an Italian look in the film.

Dia, whose character has shades of grey in the movie, told the press while unveiling the first look of the film.
'An actor's body needs agility to carry off the action or stunt sequence convincingly. The body needs to be in optimum form. I trained to develop it before the film went on floors.'

It has been touted as Danny Denzongpa’s comeback. According to producer Sanjay Gupta who is a huge fan of Danny, “Danny Denzongpa is the best looking male member of the cast.”

The film is slated to release on October 2, 2009

Billo Barber

Cast: Irrfan Khan, Shahrukh Khan, Lara Dutta, Om Puri, Rajpal Yadav, Asrani, Jason Mehta
Directed by: Priyadarshan

Billo (Irrfan Khan) is the stubborn village barber who refuses to adapt to new fashions in the hair dressing world.

One day a film crew, including its superstar Sahil Khan, visits Billo's village to shoot a movie. When the villagers learn that Sahil was Billo's school friend, they give the barber the respect he craves.

But Billo is also unsure on meeting Sahil. Due to his superstar status he fears the star may not recognise him. After many unsuccessful attempts of getting in touch with Sahil, Billo gives up. He is branded a liar by the villagers and his family.

But all ends well when Sahil is invited to the village school function. He reveals his past to all present about a close friend he had at school who always stood by him in his hour of need.

Whether Sahil manages to meet Billo forms the climax of this comedy drama produced by Shah Rukh Khan.

Billo Barber is a remake of the Malayalam film Kadha Parayumbol and Tamil film, Kuselan. Irrfan Khan plays the lead role, while Shah Rukh Khan only has a minor part.

Directed by Priyadarshan, the film also features Om Puri, Rajpal Yadav and Asrani in supporting roles. Kareena Kapoor and Deepika Padukone are also said to appear in song and dance numbers with Shah Rukh Khan.

RAB NE BANA DI JODI promo Rocks

As we had informed, so it happened. The much awaited song promo of Aditya Chopra's Shah Rukh Khan starrer, RAB NE BANA DI JODI, made a high profile appearance on Sunday, across all leading channels, to coincide with the superstar's birthday. And what a song and what a promo!

The teaser kickstarts with SRK in his common man look taking a bath under a tap, followed by his self cooked bread and butter breakfast, and not to mention that he even washes the plates! All the while, the superb harmonium rhythm accompanies the proceedings and finally the superlative number, 'Haule Haule' unfolds. The Sukhwinder–SRK magic is palpable once again. This is one number that we promise; even Shah Rukh Khan's adversaries will fall in love with! The simple melody is absolutely bewitching and the song takes the listeners in its grips, 'haule haule' (slowly). Yes, that's the beauty of the number. Initially, it does strike as just another sweet love song but slowly and surely it captures the heart! Jaideep Sahni as the lyricist strikes an instant cord with his simple but meaningful lyrics– 'Haule haule se hawa lagti hai, Haule haule se dawa lagti hai, Haule haule se dua lagti hai, Haule haule chanda badhta hai, Haule haule ghoonghat uthta hai, Haule haule se nasha chadhta hai!'

The debutant Anushka Sharma looking pretty in her usual simple 'salwar–suit', makes a brief appearance on a rickshaw. And she is there as the mesmerizing song ends which shows her applying colour ('gulal') to the bespectacled and moustached Shah Rukh Khan.

As the saying goes, well begun is half done! The RNBDJ song promo has received unanimous praise from all sections of the trade as well as the general paying public. So, with such a beautiful number first up we await even more eagerly for the launch of its much anticipated music album on 6th/7th November.

Salman Khan's beefed up, bronzed look in Veer

Few years ago, Shah Rukh Khan played the role of Veer in Yash Chopra's love story Veer-Zaara. Now Salman Khan is all set to star in an action film titled Veer.

The story of this film (directed by Anil Sharma) has been written by Salman himself and while we did show you some pics of the actor in his new look for Veer earlier, this picture gives you a clearer idea of what to expect from this flick.

Salman, who is always known for experimenting with his looks, is seen in a beefed up, bronzed look with unusually long hair. The actor is seen wearing a fur jacket and an ethnic neckpiece and kada (bangle) Also from the looks of it, Salman seems to be playing a warrior of another era given the fact that he is seen holding a sword in one hand and a shield in the other.

In the recent past, Abhishek Bachchan tried the 'superhero meets warrior' look in Drona but unfortunately the film sank without a trace. Will Sallu bhai be able to pull of this warrior act in Veer, one will have to wait and watch.

Imran Isn't shying away from the adult content of Delhi Belly

Ranbir Kapoor had opted out of Delhi Belly with a squirm, protesting to producer Aamir Khan that he wouldn't be able to watch the film at the premiere with his parents.

But Imran's cool with the sexual content of his mamu's film, "I'd have no problem watching it with my mom or girlfriend. I have a cool rapport with my mom."

Imran has been attending workshops for Delhi Belly. "We started shooting from October 4. Delhi Belly is in English, so it's inherently limited in appeal." Imran has lost weight for this role, "I needed to lose that muscular look. So I've stopped gymming completely. I'm not exercising at all. And I'm eating as much as I want because I'm not prone to fat at all. For Kidnap and Luck, I needed a bulkier body."

He continues, "I played a daredevil and had to jump off the 20th floor. I insisted on doing it myself although the body double was present. I got a shouting afterwards from my mom, girlfriend and Sanjay Dutt. In fact, Baba phoned Aamir to complain. That's how Aamir got to know about it.

Having jumped from that height, I've lost fear of stunts. My next action film will have to be really big. I grew up being thrilled by Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis. I had decided that if I were offered those kinds of stunts, I'd do them on my own."

After Aamir heard that Imran had performed a dangerous stunt for Kidnap, Aamir called Imran home and gave him a dressing-down.

Says Imran, "He said, 'You have to be more responsible towards yourself and your family.' He's right but I don't know if I can listen to him in this case."

Road Side Romeo - Movie Preview

Lyrics : Jaideep Sahni
Music : Salim Sulaiman
Animation by: Tata Elxsi / VCL
Producer : Aditya Chopra
Writer and Director : Jugal Hanshraj

This is the story of Romeo. A dude who was living the life. He had the works – the mansion to live in, the chicks to party with and the cars to be driven around in. Until one day, the family he was the favourite pet of, decided to move and left him back, abandoned on the mean streets of Mumbai.

Romeo is now faced with situations he has never been in before. He encounters four strays, who scare the daylights out of him. But soon, he smooth talks his way into their hearts and he makes friends.

Then, Romeo finds love! He encounters the beautiful, ravishing Laila, the most beautiful girl he has ever seen... and he loses his heart to her at first sight!

And finally, he encounters a villain! The dreaded Don of the area – Charlie Anna! The Don who everyone is scared of. So hop on to the adventure as Romeo, wins friendship, love and a new life – in spite of Charlie Anna and his gang!

Saif Ali Khan as Romeo
Romeo is a small cute looking pet of a super rich human family. He's a real good looking guy and he makes sure everyone around him thinks so too! He lives the good life. He's got a butler waiting on him, the best food to eat, a grand car to go out in, loads of super rich guy friends. He is extremely popular with the ladies, he's a big flirt!

He is very savvy and smart. A guy with loads of intelligence and he knows how to get what he wants. A smooth talker, a smooth dancer, Romeo's a smart alec, a wise guy. When fate lands him in a slum, after his initial disappointment, he smooth talks his way out of trouble.

He finds himself to be more intelligent than the average street guy and he takes full advantage of this fact to turn things around to his benefit. He thinks nothing of lying just to get what he wants. All said and done, Romeo's heart is still in the right place. He's a great guy. He's a dude!

Kareena Kapoor as Laila
Laila's the hottest girl ever and she knows it! She is the lead singer and dancer at the Moonlight Nightclub. This is where all the males throng every week when she performs. There isn't a male guy alive in the slum who doesn't dream of dancing with the beautiful, Laila some day.

She's not only got the looks, but the talent to sing and dance and heaps of attitude and arrogance to go with it too! In spite of the large list of admirers, Laila is a lonely girl.

Thanks to Charlie Anna, the Don of the slum. He is besotted by her and everyone is terrified of his anger. The consequences of just talking to Laila, forget dancing with her, can be fatal and due to this, she has no friends. The girls are jealous of her and the guys scared of Charlie's wrath.

She dreams of finding a sweet, honest and brave guy who will have the courage to be friends with her, dance with her in spite of whatever Charlie may feel. Even though she is the hottest girl, inside she's a sweetheart.

Jaaved Jaaferi as Charlie Anna
Charlie Anna is the dreaded Don of the slum. Anna means big brother and that's what everyone calls him out of fear. He is the cause of fear in everyone's heart. He's dirty, fat and ugly, with a big bouncy belly.

Charlie Anna is a pompous old fool who loves nothing more than hearing his praises. His moods are unpredictable and that is what makes him dangerous, yet at heart he is a hopeless romantic, a softie with a tough exterior.

Soha Ali Khan recently hinted in all her interviews at all being well in her love life but we have found out her claims don't exactly hold true under

Vishesh Films had only one release to its name in 2008 – JANNAT – but this one project was good enough to keep them smiling for the rest of the year. A super hit venture for Mukesh Bhatt, Emraan Hashmi and Kunal Deshmukh, JANNAT announced loud and clear that Bhatts are there to stay regardless of countless corporate houses looking at taking over Bollywood in entirety.

Work started soon on RAAZ – THE MYSTERY CONTINUES and though principal shooting of this yet another Bhatts–Hashmi–Mohit Suri venture is complete, next few months would be dedicated on incorporating world class special effects in the film.

Recently there was news around RAAZ – THE MYSTERY CONTINUES arriving in the month of January in spite of biggies like CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA (confirmed for 16th January), BILLO BARBER and VICTORY eyeing for a release in the same month. To make matters further interesting, DILLI 6 and SHORTKUT too have seemingly confirmed plans for 23rd January, the same date on which Bhatts are sure about bringing their horror flick.

"Yes, the film is certainly coming on 23rd January, come what may", announced Mukesh Bhatt, "No ways are we going to move around the release date since we have locked 23rd January after much deliberation."

But how about the massive competition round the corner? Also, DILLI 6 and SHORTKUT are no pushovers with CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA being one movie which would have audience rushing for it even in the second weekend.

"If you look at the way release dates are juggled around today, there is no guarantee if for any movie, the announced date is confirmed or not", reasons Mukesh Bhatt, "In that scenario, we can't play a wait and watch game. We have our own promotional strategy in place and for that we are required to lock in a particular date. 23rd January is confirmed, period!"

Gomaal Returns — Trailer Review

Last year was full of comedy flicks that ruled the box office . The long line up included Welcome , Partner , Heyy Babyy , Bhul Bhulaiya ,Dhamaal , Bheja Fry etc . All of them were box office success and everyone started believing that Comedy films are the roads to success . On the contrary this year very few comedies got released and the few that got released suffered at the box office . This year films like Sunday , One Two Three , Mr. Black Mr. White , DeTaali , Ugly aur Pugly and Maan Gaye Mughal-e-azam released that were all rejected by both audience and critics . All of these films didn’t have neither the script nor the star power . The only comedy film that worked this year is Singh isKinng . In fact it is the biggest box-office success of the year . Well , trying to break the streak of bad comedies this year comes a sequel to a big comedy hit ,Golmaal , with the entire team along with some new faces .

The first trailer of Golmaal Returns is out now and from the looks of trailer it seems that a potential comedy hit is on its way . This time though the Golmaal series gets a little more star studded with Kareena joining in the group along with the other girls like Celina , Amrita Arora and Anjana Sukhani . So this time every guy has his own girl to woo . One guy has also changed , Sharman has been replaced by Shreyas Talpade .

Talking of the trailer , it starts off with some flashback scenes of Golmaal . While these scenes are played a line comes on screen which says that all the fun and madness of Golmaal will return this Diwali along with the fools . After this we see Tushar in his typical voice communicating on a Phone . Then comes the introduction scene of Ajay standing on two Hummers this time instead of two bikes . After Ajay comes Kareena riding on a Honda Motorbike in her new born sexy avatar . After the two stars the rest of the group is introduced one by one doing their respective stunts , Arshad along with Amrita , Shreyas along with Celina and Anjana along with Tushar . Then the whole group is shown dancing to the new Golmaal song which also sounds quite groovy like the original one did . While the whole track is been played in background some more shots of all the leads are shown which keep showing them doing some stunts and comedy . Some of those scenes are quite funny and some them being quite old . There’s a scene that shows a Goa Police Van which means that this one is set up in Goa . The entire trailer majorly focuses on the title track with some of the scenes from the movie inserted in between . The scenes made me believe that there would be all kinds of Jokes in this one . Some very old jokes and some quite new . All the stupidity and Gay Jokes along with some age old Sex comedy would be present there . Then at last come a few mindless action scenes that are always part of a Rohit Shetty film . He has a fascination for toppling cars , he did this in both of his films whether its Golmaal or Sunday . Then at last comes a line that says “Have a Blast This Diwali” .

Lets hope that we do have a blast while watching this film and this one turns out to be as good as the original . Expectations arequite high since Golmaal was big hit and that one was loved even by the critics . That film had situational comedy and the script in itself was quite strong . I just hope they don’t create situations in this one and the scripts has them inherently . The whole chemistry between the actors islooking great but chemistry would do no good if the script isn’t funny . This one though doesn’t have Sharman who is basically very good at comedy and his absence would definitely damage the film a bit . He is replaced by Shreyas who is also a great actor but he would look good only if the character has been written well . His behaviour and acting isn’t that funny so he needs a very well written character so that he can portray it well . His character inOSO was a strong one and he delivered it accordingly .Lets hope he fits in the boots of Sharman exactly like him . Kareena can also do comedy and her character is that of Saas-Bahu daily soap lover . She might turn out to be the funniest character in the film .

Talking of Director , Rohit Shetty , I hope he doesn’t do what he did in Sunday . He should stop stuffing in mindless action that is not required in the script . This film would be a real test for him since his last film Sunday failed at the box office . Ajay also hasn’t had the best year withHalla Bol and Sunday not doing well and his Directional debut U , Me or Hum also doing so so . The year has also been bad for Kareena with her Tashan not impressing anyone .

In all , the trailer looks good with usual funny scenes from the film and a very good sounding song in the background . The film is all set to release on October 29 on the Diwali’s Eve . Check out the trailer (courtesyYoutube , not uploaded by me ) :

Imran has a wild streak to him!

Imran Khan may have made a debut with a chocolate boy image but in his forthcoming film KIDNAP, which is produced by Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd. Imran plays a macho and rugged character in which he has a scene where he keeps jabbing a knife between Minissha's fingers!

Imran was required to use a fake knife for the shots. But for the close–ups, the director Sanjay Gadhvi preferred the real knife as it would look authentic! One can expect Imran to get goose pimples at the thought of jabbing a real knife with such continuity between Minissha's fingers. But it looks like Imran is quite the pro at it! He seems to have mastered the art when he was at boarding school and confesses to love doing it!!! He says, ''I love doing that and if you look at my hand closely, I still have a few scars of the days when I used to do it.''

Commenting on the scene, Minissha says; ''I was terrified. We had to use a real knife as it was a close up. Imran had assured me that I was in safe hands since he had done this kind of thing with friends while growing up. I was genuinely on the verge of being knifed during the take and I didn't have to move at all. But true to his word, Imran was a master at this and I got to see another day with all my fingers intact!''

Well, Imran's wild streak is something we are sure no one suspected him off!

Drona is not a super-hero film

Another director who's back after a sabbatical is Goldie Behl. There has been a substantial gap between his directorial debut BAS ITNA SA KHWAAB HAI and his second outing DRONA. "Two reasons, " Goldie spells out, "Nothing inspired me to start a film in the intervening period. Besides, I decided to dabble in television and establish my company."

He gets into an introspective mood. "I was completely disillusioned. I took failure to my heart. But with the passage of time, I realized that one should never take failure to heart or success to head, " the soft-spoken director states.

Goldie penned a couple of scripts in the intervening period. "And also made 3 / 4 films in my mind, " he laughs. DRONA was 'born' after a lot of thinking and brainstorming sessions.

Now this is important: A lot of people feel that DRONA is a super-hero film, on the lines of Batman and Superman. Is it? "It's not! It's a modern-day fantasy adventure. Let me clarify, we haven't copied the West or the East. It's an original concept, very Indian at heart, a desi film, but presented in a contemporary format, " he divulges.

Please continue. "I've grown up on popular Indian cinema and having grown up in a family environment, you'll see a lot of familial bonding in DRONA.

The bonding between Jaya Aunty (Jaya Bachchan) and Abhishek on screen is terrific, it's an extension of what they're in real life. In fact, Jaya Aunty is the trump card of my film, the real USP. And as a director, I must add that it's one of her finest works ever, " Goldie states with all humility.

Final words? "I am sure, DRONA would not only work with the Indian audiences, but also internationally, " he says. Amen!
