Kareena Kapoor has secret plans.

And they are grand, naturally. What might seem great for lesser mortals is not good enough for Bollywood’s reining diva.

She wrinkles her shapely nose and says, “By the year-end, I hope I can buy my own house in Switzerland.’’ The actress is distressed that Mumbai offers little privacy to beau Saif Ali Khan and her. “We find it hard to go out clubbing or even for dinner because there is hardly any place that is truly private,’’ she regrets.

She says on most evenings, when they aren’t shooting, the couple stays indoors and watches television or soaks into a movie of their choice. “It’s getting kind of claustrophobic,’’ Kareena explains. She’s determined to work harder than ever now and make sure the extra bucks that she makes will go towards her dream home in the Alps. As to how she will manage flying across continents to juggle work and pleasure, Kareena says, “I have been giving it serious thought. If Johnny Depp can stay in Paris and work in Los Angeles, then surely I can stay in Switzerland for three months a year and work in Mumbai or wherever it is that I am required to be.’’

As of today, Kareena is wrapping up Karan Johar’s Qurban with Saif at a suburban Mumbai studio, and then flying to America for a short vacation. In keeping with her position of the No 1 Bollywood heroine, she has her diary chalked out for the next six months. September has been reserved for working on those ‘abs’ and some heavy-duty physical training so she can flaunt it all in Agent Vinod.

“Lots of exciting work is happening,’’ she beams. “In October Karan’s Stepmom with Kajol will begin providing me the emotional sustenance I’m looking for in a role, then Agent Vinod starts. Here I have the opportunity to do some kickass stunts, like Angelina Jolie in Mr & Mrs Smith.”

December will mark the release of Raju Hirani’s Three Idiots with Aamir Khan, the most hyped film of the year. Shuddering, Kareena says, “Somewhere I’m a little girl who is still afraid of the expectations from each of my films. But I’m also very excited.’’
Films apart, the grapevine gup is that she’s launching her own label in January.

“I have only just begun talks with an international team on introducing my personal clothes line like Victoria Beckham. My look in Kambakkht Ishq has gone down well with the fashionistas and hence this talk of launching my own label. There is little else I can say about this now because it’s in the formative stage.’’

Kareena Kapoor has started sh0wing off her Nawabi Masti now, considering chote nawab’s nawabipan has rubbed on her too. She turned down the offer to perform at the Screen Awards’ Finale.

The highlight of the show was supposed to be the act called Five Divas featuring the creme de la creme of Bollywood – Katrina Kaif, Bipasha Basu, Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone along with Kareena Kapoor. But Bebo is not exited about the act because she thinks she is just not ‘one of them’.

And Kareena doesn’t feel obliged to give any explanations about that while sources close to her reveal that she is just keeping up with her resolution of not performing at private parties and performing in select award functions.

Guess the other nawabs weren’t happy with Kareena’s naach-gana on stage that why she’s took up such a resolution.

On a balmy Sunday afternoon, 23-year-old Jeet Dasgupta tears down a life-size poster of tennis pro Sania Mirza from his bedroom wall.

He scoffs, “Sania post her engagement isn’t a hot male fantasy. Soon, she’ll be talking kids.” In the pleasure playground of idol worship, betrothed female celebs enjoy second class citizenship. An online poll on timesofIndia.com recently revealed that 58 per cent of readers felt that marriage would mark a fall in B-town queen Kareena Kapoor’s star rating. A reader from Qatar declared, “Saying ‘yes’ will kill her image.”

Is it the fear of losing popularity that pressurises female icons to shy away from matrimony? Bebo, who’s been spotted with a colossal solitaire of late, dispels engagement rumours, “Am I crazy to get married now when so many wonderful things are happening to my career? It can wait for two years.”

In the fragile world of glamour, why are rules different for the sexes? Adman Prahlad Kakkar says, “Once hitched, the brand value of a female star falls. She’s no longer available as the subject of vicarious popular imagination. In India, marriage is associated with morality, so fans can’t handle a married woman gyrating in a bikini.”

An industry source says, “Rani Mukherji was the No 1 heroine after Hum Tum and Black. But, she turned herself into an exclusive Yashraj property, by secretly marrying producer Aditya Chopra. Today her career’s scripted by him.”

The original ‘It’ girl of the ‘90s, Pooja Bedi recalls how her ex-husband wanted her to quit films post marriage. “Being in the industry involves gruelling outdoor schedules, scandalous gossip, alleged link-ups and controversies. Non-star partners are intimidated,” says Bedi.

Former model Walusha Robinson recalls, “Offers stopped as soon as I had my first child. Though I was only 20, suddenly, I was being doled out commercials that saw me playing either a mother or a wife.”

Besides viewer voyeurism, director Madhur Bhandarkar points out, “The lifespan of an actress is short-lived. In a male-dominated industry, it takes at least three to four years to break through. Once an actress tastes success, it’s hard to resist the glamour bug, which is why most heroines talk marriage after they’ve crossed their prime or delay marriage if they’re young and seeing someone. Ironically, married heroes like Aamir or SRK are considered cool, but once a Priyanka Chopra marries, she may be offered the role of a bhabhi.” He adds, “Most distributors, including corporate houses feel casting married actresses is risky as they’re uncomfortable kissing onscreen, wearing a bikini or engaging in a love-making scene.”

B-town’s biggest female brand icon — Aishwarya turned down the lead in the gay spoof Dostana saying the role was “too sexy for her married image.”

Kakkar says, “Youth sells! A married woman often carries with her the baggage of age.” No wonder then that 20-something newcomers like Deepika Padukone, Sonam Kapoor and Genelia D’Souza are nudging out 30-plus heroines from films and brand endorsements. Priyanka was heard saying, “No one in this industry is indispensable. Someone takes over from somebody.”

Actress Perizad Zorabian admits, “Married heroines tend to choose less risqué roles as there’s a chance of offending their extended family. And, once you have children you have to compromise.” Perhaps this explains the self-imposed hiatus that stars like Jaya Bachchan, Sridevi, Madhuri Dixit, Kajol and Karishma Kapoor took, before being lured by the arc lights again. But ‘comebacks’ too are risky. Madhur says, “Audiences can’t accept the physical changes in their female icons.”

Karisma Kapoor however dismisses the notion about actresses not getting good roles after marriage as a mere myth. “Does anybody in Hollywood ask Julia Roberts and Meryl Streep, who make one film in five years, whether they’re coming back? Sharmila Tagore delivered some of her biggest hits after her children were born,” she retorts.

Actress Ayesha Takia, who recently tied the knot asks, “If our married actors can be treated professionally, why can’t actresses be treated as professionally?”

Unreasonable criticism depresses Kareena

But Saif keeps her ‘happy and smiling’

Kareena Kapoor admits she gets upset when uncharitable remarks are made about her or her performance. Though the actress doesn't mind healthy criticism, she isn't amused when comments are made without any provocation or reason.

"I have realised over a period of time that the higher you go, more and more people will try to pull you down. I used to hear about this from my sister (Karisma) but am experiencing this first hand now. It isn't really funny actually," Kareena told IANS.

Kareena was obviously referring to a section of the media coming down heavily on her since the release of "Kambakkht Ishq" (pictured left).

"Well, the movie has released, done well and it's time to move on to newer things. Critics had things to say about the film and it's okay if they didn't like the film. In any case, audiences had their own take on the film and they made the film a success. It's all balanced out at the end of the day," she said.

Some critics did feel that the "Kambakkht Ishq" content was too abusive at places.

"That continues to beat me," she said in an amused tone. "Come on, it was just a movie. We were not developing any rocket science there. However, I guess some people did take it all personally and equated 'Kambakkht Ishq' to World War III," said Kareena.

She can't be immune to criticism though, isn't it?

"Yes, I do tend to get upset and depressed when people try to pull me down. Sometimes it just comes from nowhere and you end up feeling that what did you really do so wrong to be facing such criticism.

"But then I understand that there could be a phase in one's life when you get attacked from all corners. It's fine because I know it will pass," said the actress who is looking forward to the release of "Qurbaan" before year-end.

She is happy though that she has a loyal set of friends, family members and supporters around her who help her keep her chin up.

"And then of course there is Saif," she perked up. "He has been around for so long and keeps me happy and smiling. Yes, there are detractors, but then there are supporters as well. After seeing Bollywood business closely for so long, I try not to take things too seriously."

Her "Tashan" didn't do well at the box office, but Kareena has had impressive releases over the last few years like "Omkara", "Jab We Met", "Golmaal Returns" and now "Kambakkht Ishq" doing well at the box office. In between, she also had a special appearance in another box office winner "Don - The Chase Begins Again".

"Yes, thankfully it has been a nice run. I'm now really looking forward to 'Qurbaan', 'Main Aur Mrs. Khanna' and '3 Idiots'."

Kareena: Saif loved me in Jab We Met and Omkara

In a recent interview to film glossy Screen, Kareena spoke about beau Saif Ali Khan, former arm candy Shahid Kapur, working with Sylvester Stallone and her catfights with Katrina and Priyanka, in her trademark frank avatar.

On working with Sylvester Stallone
He was very curious about India and asked questions about our different cuisines and culture. He wanted to know about our film industry and how we make so many movies every year. He was keen to see my films. I was supposed to give him the DVD of Jab We Met but I didn’t have time. I'll do that soon though.

Since he has so many tattoos, he was connecting with Saif on that level. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that one day I’d be acting with Sylvester Stallone. Young guys have grown up on his films; his Rocky posters were on walls everywhere. Akshay, a huge Sly fan, was very excited to do action scenes with him.

I could say that publicly to him on an award function stage because that’s the kind of relationship I share with Imtiaz. I felt it at that moment and I said it. After seeing Love Aaj Kal though, I feel only Deepika and Saif could have done these roles.

He’d be the best to answer this but I think it’ll be Omkara and Jab We Met. Saif doesn’t watch too many Hindi movies. I don’t think he watches his own films.

This whole issue has been blown out of proportion. I shared some wonderful moments with Shahid and both Saif and I wish him well. Saif respects my past but there are times when we get upset with all that is written or insinuated about us. I’ll always cherish my memories with Shahid but that chapter of my life is over and I’ve turned the page. I hope the media does that as well. My heart is clean.

I’m extremely fond of Katrina. She’s always been very nice to me. It’s ditto with PC who is very friendly when we meet at social occasions. I don’t know how and why this media war between us is being reported. There has never been an issue with both of them, or with Ash (Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan).

Everyone is here to work and everyone is happy in her own zone. In the last three years, I took a conscious decision to not compete with any other heroine. I only compete with myself and want to raise my own bar.

I’ve stopped reading newspapers and watching TV channels because I don’t want to be a part of all this. I’m a very passionate and focused girl and I’ve a life to live. I don’t care what the gossip mills are churning out. I travel the world when I’m not working. I don’t care who is doing what.

Well spoken, the girl has learnt to be a diplomat with good measure.

Kareena Kapoor has reason to feel happy. Kambakkht Ishq where she plays a feminist who finally falls in love with the man she hates has opened well.

But more than a good opening, her family and beau Saif Ali Khan have loved the film. "My whole family, except me, is hard-core commercial film lovers.

My mother (Babita) loved Kambakkht Ishq so much that she's going to the theatre again today with 15 friends to see it with the audience. Lolo loves David Dhawan kind of entertainers and has loved this too," said Kareena.

Her father Randhir Kapoor is on a cruise to Lisbon. "He messaged me yesterday congratulating me on the huge opening of Kambakkht Ishq.

He reaches London in a couple of days to shoot for House Full and will watch the film there. Mom was very happy with me.

She said after a long time I have done such a glamorous role and that I should keep doing films like this. My family is not very fond of my films like Omkara and Chameli."

"Saif loved my look and styling done by Aki Narula in Kambakkht Ishq. He doesn't like the song 'Bebo mein Bebo.'
His favorite song is the one in Venice with Akshay, which goes 'Lakh lakh'. Saif enjoyed KI so much that he says he can watch it again and again.

Kareena feels that Kambakkht Ishq is a good film to watch over the weekend. "The film has lots of laughs, lots of glamour and sex appeal and the chemistry between Akshay and me is superb!

Though I play a feminist in the film in real life I am not like that. I am feminine and loving."

B.O. update: 'Kambakkht Ishq' takes a hurricane-like start

The much-awaited biggie KAMBAKKHT ISHQ started with a bang last night. The film grossed 100% collections in paid previews on Thursday night. In Mumbai alone, the paid previews were held at 62 screens and the film garnered 100% collections. On Friday morning, the early morning shows, i.e. 9.30 am / 10 am shows opened to 90% - 95% occupancy. Places like Rohtak [East Punjab circuit] collected Rs. 55,000 nett against Rs. 60,000 house full capacity. Amritsar will be collecting Rs. 1 lac, which is over-capacity by 200/250 audience. Lucknow was 90% - 95% in morning shows. The audience report is very positive.

Both Katrina, Kareena have sexy bodies, says Akshay

Action king can’t decide who’s better

Akshay Kumar has worked with both Kareena Kapoor and Katrina Kaif in several films, but can't decide who is better. The action king says both are "wonderful actresses" and have "sexy bodies".

"Both Kareena and Katrina are really good but who is the better among them depends on their roles in the films. Otherwise, both of them have sexy bodies and are absolutely wonderful actresses," said Akshay when asked to choose his favourite of the two.

Akshay has done four films with Katrina including "Namastey London" and "Singh Is Kinng", while he has worked with Kareena in five that include hits "Ajnabee" and "Aitraaz". The two are set to scorch the screen once again in their upcoming action-cum-romantic drama "Kambakkht Ishq", which releases on Friday.

"In 'Kambakkht Ishq', Kareena has performed very well. Her character required to answer back at me and be strong and she has portrayed it in a powerful, yet lovable way. On the other hand, even Katrina was really good in 'Namastey London'. So it's not really about my choice... it all depends on their roles," the actor told IANS over phone from Puerto Rico, where he is on a holiday.

Akshay, who has spent more than 18 years in the Hindi film industry, says acting with a new league of actresses is a learning experience.

"As a senior actor, I don't always have to give out tips to the younger ones. In fact, I feel I can learn a lot from the younger generation because they have new ways of acting and a different approach to work.

"I cannot particularly point out what I have learnt from them (Kareena and Katrina) yet, but yes, working with them was a learning experience," said the actor, who has also teamed up with Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone and Ayesha Takia.

Akshay plays a Hollywood stuntman in "Kambakkht Ishq", which also boasts of big Hollywood names like Sylvester Stallone, Denise Richards and Brandon Routh - working with whom has been a "dream come true" for the actor.

In the film, Akshay has done what he is best at - action and daredevilry - something that had taken a backseat in his career for a while.

"I decided to stop doing stunts till Aarav (son) turns at least six. Now I'm back at it again. In 'Blue', which is an action thriller, I have done some death-defying stunts like the one where I had to swim 150 feet underwater with 30-40 sharks. But I will talk about it sometime later," he said.

At the moment, the 41-year-old actor is pinning hopes on Sajid Nadiadwala's "Kambakkht Ishq" to bail him out after his much-publicised films "Chandni Chowk To China" and "8X10 Tasveer" fizzled out at the box office.

"I'm expecting great response for this film. Though I had worked very hard in 'Chandni Chowk...' , the response didn't turn out to be as expected. Some people and critics didn't like it and '8X10 Tasveer' was more like an art film, which has a niche market in India. 'Kambakkht Ishq' is a complete entertainer and I hope the audience appreciates it," he said.

Apart from "Kambakkht Ishq", Akshay will also be seen in "Blue", "De Dana Dan" and "Action Replay".

One look at the promos of Kambakkht Ishq and you can’t help but notice Kareena Kapoor’s vertiginous heels.

Stylist Aki Narula, who shopped all over Milan for Kareena’s wardrobe for the film, says she’s India’s answer to Sarah Jessica Parker in the movie.
We love the white bondage type shoes she wears with a floral dress and the printed ganji-mini; the hot pink ones with black ankle strap that livens up the black sequinned number; and the scarlet ones with a corsage that take away the goody-two-shoe-ness of the canary yellow floral outfit. The peach outfit would have washed Bebo out if it weren’t for the burgundy shoes with the cut-out wedges. Another striking ensemble is the white ganji-bloomers with the bubblegum pink corset and metallic green heels.

Fifty two five-inch high shoes were hand-picked by the designer in Milan over 10 days. To keep the impact of the shoes and outfits strong, Kareena wears almost no jewellery, save for strong cuffs. “She didn’t get out of the heels once she got into them. She walked, danced and ran all over the cobbled streets of Venice in them,” says Aki.

Kareena will soon launch her official website

Kareena Kapoor now wants to join the league of actresses who have their own official website.

It is learnt from reliable sources that the actress is currently working on a web portal, which will allow her fans to get up close and personal with her.

A source reveals, "Bebo has been wanting to start her own website for a while now. But she wants things to be perfect and that's why she's taking time to come out with it.

The wheels are already in motion and in all probability, the website will be up and running sometime next month."

The website will have all the regular features like wallpapers, biography, information about her films, etc.

Bebo will also blog. But the unique feature of her website will be a fashion column wherein the actress will give style advice to her fans.

Those with queries can post questions on the right styles and colours to wear etc.

Kareena Kapoor tells why she'd never wear a bikini again

If you thought 2008 was the year of Kareena Kapoor then wait till you hear what's in store for this stunner in 2009. "For starters, " she begins as she packs for her much-awaited week-long vacation in Europe with Saif Ali Khan, "I'll finally be moving into my new home in January. It's just a hop and skip away from where I stay on Hill Road in Bandra. I can't give up being close to my mom and living in Bandra." The home in a building called Queen will also have a new apartment for Kareena's mother. "Of course my mother is moving with me. I can't live breathe or take one step without my mother. The only difference is she'll now have a separate apartment. But we're still on the same floor." As for the home that Saif is preparing for the two of them, Kareena shrugs, "That won't be ready for another two years. That's how long it's going to be before we get married anyway. Right now my diary is filled up till 2010. There's no space for even a runaway marriage." Kareena has in fact decided to gift her mom much more than just a new home. She has made her mom a New Year promise. "No more bikini shots for me. I mean I'm very happy with the kind of attention and adulation I got for getting into a bikini in Tashan. And I wasn't uncomfortable wearing it. Why should I be? I've the physique to carry it off. But that's it. My mother didn't like me in a bikini. Also the kind of work that I'm doing now in 3 Idiots or Renzil d'Silva's film doesn't require that kind of exposure." With her super-star daughter being extremely busy with her career and Saif, mom Babita has a lot of time on hand. "She now does a lot of charity work with charitable institutions like the Mount Mary Old Age Home in Bandra and other places. She's a very giving woman. I should know.She scarificed her own career and joys to bring up my sister and me." Not too many people know Babita is half-Christian. Reveals Kareena, "Her mother was a Christian and father a Sindhi. So we are as fond of the church as we're of the temple. Christmas is a big event for us. That's why I needed to rush home at this time from Philadelphia to be home for Christmas before taking off for my holiday." Surprisingly Kareena is full of praise for her supposed arch-rival Priyanka Chopra. "I don't know why so much is made of our rivalry. We're in totally difference spaces. She does her own films. I do mine. Whenever we meet she's really sweet to me. I don't understand why we're made out to be two squabbling sirens. Please, we're grownup women." As far as conducting a career goes Kareena's role- model is Aishwarya Rai. "I love the way she carries herself and the roles she's choosing after marriage. I'd like to follow that pattern when I get married." But that's a long way off. At the moment Kareena is just happy being with Saif. "He may appear to be very volatile and undecided, just like me. But actually he takes all the right decisions on my behalf. He's totally into his books while I love films. I keep him clued in to what's happening in the industry. Right now we both want to see Ghajini before we leave for our holiday. We're both Aamir fans. Ater Ghajini I think the next film Saif will see will be my 3 Idiots. And this time it won't be for Aamir." Kareena is also packing some scripts for her holiday. Kareena Ko Gussa Kyon Aata Hai?

New Delhi media was in for a shock as Kareena Kapoor staged a walk out of a press conference in the city where she was present to promote her upcoming film Kambakkht Ishq. Visibly upset and fuming with anger, she marched towards her suite when a female reporter questioned her if she would be willing to go totally nude for camera if the script demanded so. Informs an onlooker who was present at the venue, "The question shocked her. Just a few minutes back, she had patiently handled queries regarding her professional life. She had also commented around wearing a bikini in Tashan and now Kambakkht Ishq mainly because the 'script demanded it'. Though averse to doing so in future projects, she admitted that she would keep the subject and story in mind and would do 'anything' that is required by the script." Though it was a diplomatic stand on affairs, things went a little too far when an over zealous reported popped the question - 'Would you mind going nude for a role?' "This was it", adds the source, "Kareena lost her cool at that very moment and rather than choosing to blast the reporter and create a scene, she simply aborted her stay at the press conference. The flabbergasted reporter didn't know what hit her. The event coordinator too felt disgusted about the entire incident and found himself in trouble as this situation was totally unforeseen." The source continues, "There were problems for Kareena from the very beginning of the event. First and foremost the chosen venue itself wasn't conducive enough to handle a large media that had assembled. Around 100 odd reporters and journalists had gathered in a room that wasn't large enough to host a mega celebrity press conference like this. With the claustrophobic venue not helping the cause enough, queries like these were enough for Kareena to blow her fuse." For media and the film, director Sabbir Khan came to rescue though. He handled the situation well by staying on at the venue and continued to interact with the reporters. "Yes, Kareena was justified in walking out but Sabbir too did all to ensure that promotion of Kambakkht Ishq didn't get impacted", says a fellow reporter, "He realises that the film is just a few days away and didn't want any bad blood to spoil the show. He had a thin rope to walk on and did pretty well in rescuing the event from turning into a complete disaster."

Akshay's flops don't affect me

Two of Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar's big budget films may have bombed this year, but it doesn't worry director Sabbir Khan who has cast him in his ready-to-release mega-budget directorial debut movie "Kambakkht Ishq". "Failures of Akshay's movies don't affect me at all because a movie is a movie...and as a director, you just want to know whether the audiences want to see it or not, " Khan told in an interview. "Everybody goes through ups and downs. An actor's last success doesn't mean anything for a director...That way we wouldn't have had any more movies of Amitabh Bachchan or Shah Rukh Khan or Tom Cruise, " he added. Both of Akshay's much-hyped releases this year -- "Chandni Chowk To China" and "8X10 Tasveer" -- bombed at the box-office. "I think whosoever's worked with Akshay will want to repeat him. He becomes an instant favourite because of the person he is. He is a genuine human being and a brilliant actor, " said Khan who earlier worked as an assistant director in an Akshay starrer, the 2004 comedy "Mujhse Shaadi Karogi". The first time director, who has scripted "Kambakkht Ishq", was in the capital to promote the film. Shot at Universal Studios in Hollywood as well as Italy, Venice and Mumbai, the romantic comedy has much publicised cameos from Hollywood stars like Sylvester Stallone, Brandon Routh and Denise Richards. Releasing July 3, the film has been produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. "Both the producer and I dreamt big and we sort of took a simple and interesting story and made it larger than life, " said Khan, who is the son of 1960s lyricist Noor Dewasi. When asked if he was apprehensive about filming Hollywood big shots, Khan said: "I'm a director and I can't let anything overwhelm me. I'm the captain of the ship and it's my job to lead a crew of 300 people every day. So I can't be nervous filming them (Hollywood stars), though I was excited for sure when they agreed to be part of it. "I had no apprehensions because we were so well-prepared, but it was great shooting Sylvester Stallone and Denise Richards. The Hollywood stars are the USP of the film. They have some very interesting cameos in the film." Starring Kareena Kapoor in the female lead, it also has Aftab Shivdasani and Amrita Arora in pivotal roles. The producer is aggressively promoting the film, but Khan has been sidelined from the promotional activities. Asked about his subdued presence, he said: "It's very natural that my name is subdued. It's only my first film as a director and nobody knows me. Sajid, Akshay and Kareena are very famous people and if the film is known by them, it's absolutely great to have better known people to be associated with the film." Khan is slated to direct another project with Nadiadwala early next year.

What happens when you meet an extrovert like Simrita? (After nearly two minutes of silence) I'd actually be offended. I'd not like to speak to that person and just walk off. I'd never try to be near her at all. Kambakkht Ishq looks like a mad comic capers you've done in the past like Deewane Huye Paagal and Awara Paagal Deewana. Not at all. First of all, it's not a comic caper. It's a romantic comedy. Yes, it has many comic moments but it's also got love infused in it. Too much of romance is there in the film. It's all about one-upmanship between the two sexes and who is dominant. It's a superiority complex. The kind of dialogues we have with each other is the kind of dialogues you will relate to. Somewhere or the other it'll remind you of the similar type of conversation you've had with a woman in your life. There aren't many films of such nature which are being made in Hindi cinema. I believe that Men are from Mars and Women are from Heaven. It looks like Kambakkht Ishq is a complete overseas package in the way it's shot and with Hollywood action heroes adoring the Bollywood space. I don't know about the overseas package. It sounds very shallow that a film is only made for the overseas population. Yes, it's got Hollywood actors in it and may appeal to the public in the West but it's an Indian film for the world to see. It's a film which I've enjoyed doing because of the script. I'm playing a Hollywood stuntman and all the Hollywood actors are a part of my life in the film. That's the reason they are there in the film and not to package it as an international release. You've worked with Aftab Shivdasani in Awara Pagal Deewana. How is Affy now after you've last seen him a good, four to five years ago? Affy can play these kinds of roles very easily like he played in Awara Pagal Deewana. He fits the 'bechara', 'pyaar ka maara' type of roles very well. You feel sorry for his character in the film. He is very true to his character in whichever film he performs. I loved him in Kasoor where he played an obsessed lover along side Lisa Ray. He was superb in the film. What's the fun in being an incompatible couple? The fun is what women think about men and what men think about women. We just say it openly about it. We curse each other which is great. We pull our leg, disagree with every word we say and that's fun. Lean and fit is your fitness statement. You're fit at 40 unlike others who're still pumping iron to stay in shape. I don't think that's right. I believe in having an athletic body more than a bulkier body. I am too natural when it comes to fitness. I do not pick up weights. Obviously, a body like me does help in terms of an action film and stunts. Most of my stunts are performed by me because of this athletic body. If I had bulging biceps, I could only bash somebody up. Why is there so much expectation surrounding your release always? Because my fans expect a lot of fun and entertainment from Akshay Kumar. They've seen me in my last five years doing mad comedy . That's the reason why. They come in search of masala, they come in search of laughter, they come in search of emotions here and there and they've got everything to take back home with them after watching my comic films. And when they didn't get 8 X 10 Tasveer, they got disappointed. No masti, fun, laughter. I need to do different films to get into a different mode. Films like 8 X 10 Tasveer satisfy me as an actor. I'm very proud of Nagesh. What about your fans? They just don't love you. I'm sure they've got a bit violent sometimes? Oh yes. Fans in the overseas can get violent sometimes, especially women fans. They pounce on you with their long nails scratching you behind your neck. It's happened to me quite a few times now when I've visited the US or the UK. Of course, I don't argue with Twinkle when I go back home with such scratch marks made by my female fans. I also remember the time when my hands were bleeding when I shook hands with a female fan. She had a blade in between her fingers which you can't see. Such are some fans. Some love to hate me I guess. But realistically, I believe that that's the way some of the fans show love to you. Which is your favourite Sylvester Stallone film you've seen? I like his last Rocky film. He was absolutely fantastic in it. I didn't ask him which film he had seen of mine because I was too ashamed of asking that question as I suspected the answer to be 'No'. Did you guys hang around after the shoot was over? Denise, you, Kareena, Sylvester, Brandon? No, we didn't hang around together. In Hollywood, you just work. But yes, we did chat a lot. Denise was more interested in knowing about India. I also mentioned to her that India is a Bollywood crazy country but I told her that people will go to the theaters to watch Kambakkht Ishq more than the English films she has been a part of.

After Kareena Kapoor made headlines with her bikini bod in Tashan, she has now donned a swimsuit for her upcoming film Kambakkht Ishq.

Bebo is not afraid of being a sex symbol, "From my generation, I am the first actress who is a combination of talent-cum-glamour. How many actresses of my time are not just performers but can also carry off hot sexy outfits with equal ease?"

She says her beau Saif loves her sexy avatar, "Saif's extremely proud that I can dress in simple cotton Indian clothes and act in Omkara and carry off backless swimwear in Kambakkht Ishq, with equal ease."

However she isn't fighting for the sex-symbol titles, "I am not aiming for any title. If people want to give me the hottest sex symbol title tag, it's their choice. For me, it's all about what the script demands. My wearing hot outfits are not intentional. I don't wear them to get a certain tag but because the story demands such outfits. I can't dive into the ocean in a pair of jeans or a frock, can I?"

Lolo wore a swimsuit in her very first film while Kareena started wearing them much later in her career. "Glamour is in Karisma's blood. Our grandfather Raj Kapoor, projected heroines in a glamorous and sexy manner. So why should I shy away from it?"

When asked which of her contemporaries from Bipasha Basu and Priyanka Chopra looked better in swimwear, she turns diplomatic, "I am the wrong person to ask such things. I wouldn't like to comment on anyone's personal attributes. I am choosy, not just with my scripts but also with my comments these days."
