Singapore Airlines contributed U.S. $ 3 million dollars

TRIBUNNEWS.COM, JAKARTA - Singapore Airlines contributed U.S. $ 3 million dollars in his first major involvement in large-scale environmental projects with long-term and sustainable benefits for the global environment.

The funds donated by Singapore Airlines will be used to support the Hope Initiative Rainforest (Harapan Rainforest Initiative), which is a unique collaboration between different organizations and international non-governmental organizations, including BirdLife International and the Indonesian Bird (BirdLife partner in Indonesia).

Representatives from Singapore Airlines, BirdLife International and the Foundation KEHI has made a deal through a signing ceremony in Singapore last weekend. KEHI Foundation is a nonprofit foundation of Indonesia designated by BirdLife consortium to manage the implementation of the program.

Being in the province of Jambi and South Sumatra, Harapan Rainforest Initiative covers an area of nearly 100,000 hectares of forest - an area with an area of one and a half times that of Singapore.

The Indonesian government recently gave the forest concession license for Harapan Rainforest Initiative to a consortium of BirdLife based on new regulations that allow the forest, which was originally intended for industrial logging or plantation, to be managed as conservation areas and forest restoration in the long term.
