Imran Hashmi To Play Lead Role In Film On 26/7 Mumbai Flood

A film based on the horrific flooding of Mumbai in the year 2005, Imran Hashmi and Soha Ali Khan have been paired for lead roles. The film which still does not have any title would be directed by Kunal Deshmukh. He is the same director who has directed film Jannat some time ago. According to sources shooting of the film will start from the month of November.

Admittedly, the July 26 flood which was caused by a record rainfall of 944 mm in 24 hours in Mumbai had taken four hundred lives and left thousands affected with water born diseases. The day is a lifetime remembrance for film industry too as many of them were caught in water logging for hours. The film in that way is tribute to life of Mumbai city.

Director of the film said that the Mumbai floods have been imprinted on the hearts of Mumbaikars forever, and nobody have ever thought that a metropolitan city could get flooded so badly and so many people would be killed. He promised that he would try to recreate whatever he could and would narrate the story exactly on what happened rather than going into unnecessary blame games.
